"I damaged my left knee in a motocross accident and tried to get it fixed as quickly as possible firstly under the National Health and then privately. The NHS could not do anything for at least 6 months and I could not afford the private treatment here because they would not give me a confirmed price, they said it could be anything from £3500 - £7000 depending on what they found when I was on the table. I found Scan Health on the INTERNET and was very impressed with their response and there confirmed price (£2090)and how quickly they could do the operation. I went over in October 2007 arrived on the Monday, had the operation on the Tuesday and came home on the Wednesday, did Physiotherapy as instructed and was back on my bike in January and competing at British Championship level in March. Tested the ACL repair at Foxhills when my bike cut out and I had to bale out landing heavily on my feet, but my knee stood up to the impact and is fine. I would recommend Scan Health to anyone as the service was fantastic and the friendly people who took an interest in me and what I do and looked after me and my family were great. I can not thank them enough."

ACL reconstruction
Friendly, helpful, extremely competentDate: 13 October 2008
"I live in California and was not insured at the time of my injury/accident. Rather than pay ridiculously high medical costs here in the states, I chose to go overseas to have my ACL reconstructed. I had originally planned on going to Singapore, but when I found Scanhealth online, I changed my plans and decided to go there instead. I continue to tell people who ask about my experience (and there are a lot of skeptics here who falsely believe that if you receive medical care outside the US, it must be "sketchy" care at best!) that it was "state of the art," "top notch," and "smooth sailing from start to finish." I knew I was in good hands - I had confidence in Dr. Rossebo who does something like 1500 knees/year! The entire staff at ScanHealth was helpful, friendly, and professional. The facilities are immaculate, and I liked the smallness of the place - the care seems more personal that way. Norwal, my physical therapist, was terrific - patient, knowledgeable, and fun. Overall, it was a great experience, as much as blowing out your knee and having to have surgery and rehab can be! I have recommended Scanhealth/Haugesund to many people here and they are impressed by the quality of the treatment I received plus the fact that my partner and I traveled for three weeks around Norway afterwards and the total cost of the trip for both of us, including surgery, was a little under $10,000 USD. at least half of what the surgery alone here would have cost. I am exactly one year post surgery, and the knee is feeling great - am going skiing for the first time three weeks from now - couldn't be more excited. Thanks again to the people at Scanhealth!"

A highly skilled, informative and friendly serviceDate: 13 October 2008
Pros: fast and efficient, informative and friendly, professional and skilled staff Cons: none
"In March 2008 I developed a cataract in my right eye within two weeks leaving me virtually blind in that eye! As a 43 year old general builder with a young family this had serious consequences on my income potential and I needed to be treated urgently. My experience with the NHS was, to say the least, not satisfactory with a probable wait of about 3 months. My search on the internet for private treatment in the UK brought the probable wait down to about 6 weeks but the cost was quite prohibitive for me. I had seen the scan health website during my search and deciced to pursue this option further. I am so glad I did! I phoned them on a Thursday at the end of March, flew out the following Tuesday, April 1st, had surgery on Wednesday and flew home on Thursday! Superb service and all much cheaper than private treatment in the UK, including flights and hotel. My surgeon was informative, friendly and skilled in his work and all the surgery staff were friendly and helpful. I do not hesitate to recommend them to any one requiring this treatment."

Wonderful ExperienceDate: 07 October 2008
Pros: wonderful treatment Cons: eye drops can take 5 to 6 days to obtain in uk so
"I would recommend Scanhealth to anyone needing eye surgery. I had cataracts removed from both eyes and the staff at the clinic were absolutely wonderful, so caring and professional. I felt completely safe while undergoing surgery. Dr Gundersen was amazing and so was every person I came into contact with. I would say though don't forget to take sunglasses with you. I had reactalite lenses in my glasses before I had the ops. but immediately after I no longer needed glasses for distance so found the daylight a little too bright. I would go back there anytime I needed private health care."
