A very happy customer! Date: 26 March 2010
Pros: no waiting for treatment, excellent neurosurgeon, sif support throughout

"Having been told of a possible 5 month wait by the NHS, I decided to investigate other options. Going private in the UK was expensive and then I discovered SurgeyinFrance.com. A back specialist in the UK had suggested France so I ask SIF to see if they could arrange something. Well it took SIF about a day and a half to come back with a workable plan at a cost that was considerably less than private in the UK and 2 weeks faster.

It's a big decision to let anyone open you up and especially your back but with my MRI and the information from my UK doctors it was the only option. I surprised Laurent by being pushed through the airport in a wheelcahir and he was relieved when he found I could stand and walk, although at a very odd angle. On the way to Toulon Laurent explained carefully what would be happening during my stay and the arrangements he had made were excellent. The hotel staff were great and helped me as much as I needed and my consultation with my surgeon gave me great confidence. Unfortunately the disc with my MRI scan was corrupted so another was needed. SIF arranged this in 24hrs to ensure the surgery was not delayed. Once checked in to the clinic, the staff did their very best to cope with my very poor French and ensure I understood what would be happening. Following the operation I saw a Physio within 6 hours and was up with no sciatic pain at all, and the post operative pain takes a little longer to go. I saw a physio each day in hospital and great care was taken to ensure I would be fit to fly home in the shortest practical time. Before I was discharged my surgeon again made sure it was safe for me to travel and explained the precautions to be taken.

Whilst I was in hospital SIF ensured that I had everything I needed and I had to tell Laurent to stay away on the Sunday to stop him coming in.

Post operative care continues in the UK under my GP but 4 weeks down the line I am making a full recovery and looking to get back to work in a couple of weeks.

I am so impressed with the French health care system and with SurgeryinFrance. The operation was planned, carried out and followed up in the best possible manner and so speedily it has made a huge difference to my quality of life and enabled me to look forward to taking part in the Round Britain and Ireland Yacht Race in June this year.

Needless to say, I am a very happy customer and would recommend SurgeryInFrance to anyone cosnidering treatment abroad. Nick.

Faultless service Date: 05 January 2010
Pros: highly personalised service, fast access to treatment, excellent surgeon & clinic

"In this day and age, how refreshing to find SurgeryInFrance, supplying a service that from my point of view, was faultless.

All arrangements were handled with a very professional touch and simply nothing was too much trouble for Laurent. Always with a smile and usually with something extra to help the time and the difficulties of hospital life and rehabilitation go just that bit easier.

Although I used the service from a single person's view, I never felt that I actually was alone, right from the time that I was met at Marseilles airport to the time that I was returned almost four weeks later.

The major reason for contacting SurgeryinFrance was for a quick operation, from the time I was contacted to the time I was first picked up was four days. The problem turned out to be far more complex than a straight total hip replacement. The surgeon conducted what is already turning out to be a very successful operation. Full marks, when you consider that he had less than 12 hours to plan the changes that he would have to make.

I would encourage those looking for any surgery supplied by SurgeryinFrance to look no further. ….and what a superb location!

"From my first contact with Surgery in France all my questions were answered satisfactorily but during my train journey to Toulon I began to wonder what I was doing, travelling to another country for eye surgery. I needn't have been concerned. On arrival at the railway station I was greeted by Laurant and immediately taken to the hotel. From then on all my pre and post operative appointments with the anethetist and surgeon were convenient and accompanied by Laurent who translated when nessesary and delt with all paperwork. I was never in any doubt that I was going to receive the very best treatment available. I was'nt disappointed. From well appointed private room to theater, hygiene was impecable and during surgery I experienced no pain or discomfort. I have no hesitation in recommending Surgery In France."

Cons: food a little disappointing

"I have recently returned from France after having a total hip replacement. I used the services of Surgery in France and I cannot praise them highly enough. From the initial contact to the day I returned home every question I had was answered fully, everything was well organised and nothing was too much trouble. I spent a week in the hospital where I had the operation, followed by two weeks in a rehabilitation clinic, totally different to the 4/5 days that I could have expected in an NHS hospital. I have no hesitation in recommending Surgery in France, especially Laurent Locke who was a star!"

"I spent just over a week, being tested, receiving a second opinion on another matter to compare with one in the UK, and undergoing surgery. Everything was arranged by the organisation, from airport arrival to departure, medical appointments, and accommodation. There were no concomitant worries. Laurent Locke was readily available, responded at once to any enquiries, was able to provide professional advice, and was useful in introducing patients to the medical personnel involved. Perhaps the most positive feedback I can provide is that another surgical procedure may be required, and if so I shall consult Surgery in France to make arrangements."

"I was planning to have knee surgary in Asia, however after consulting with Surgary in France, I made the decision to choose France. From initial contact to the operation took four weeks. Every detail was taken care of for me, which was excellent, as I do not speak more than a few words of French. My wife was able to stay with me in my room for the nights of the proceedure, which was a great comfort to me. The clinic was superb and the staff very attentive. "My condition required operating on within 2 weeks. The NHS in the UK and other private healthcare providers could not respond quickly enough. I made one phone call to Surgery in France and Laurent made all the arrangements to fly me out to a clinic in Marseilles and organise a consultation, scan and surgical treatment all within the space of a week.
I was very impressed with the effecient, friendly and personal service provided, both by Laurent and the specialised clinic in Mareseilles, throughout my stay in France. The clinic was of the highest standard and the staff very professional.
It was a complex operation (which is just not available in Scotland) carried out by a very skilled surgeon, and I now have full use of my arm again.
