"Hi,
I'd just like to say that The Medical Tourist Company is doing a great job for patients who need treatment abroad. The CEO, Dr. PD Shah provides with personal counselling that validates the patient and the loved ones that the patient’s needs will be taken care of with paramount importance. My mum was in Kenya and had to be flown to Mumbai - India due to a heart problem. Dr PD liaised with me in London and made sure that all the arrangements for the treatment at the Asian Heart Institute - Mumbai was done in a very short notice. Day to day feedback was given to me about the progress of the treatment by Dr. PD himself. The cost of the entire treatment was much lesser than a couple of thousand pounds. I would recommend the Medical Tourist Company to anyone who is willing to undergo treatment abroad as you can be assured of the best treatment, quality of care and value for money."

"The staff were excellent, and always willing to help. The hospital was like a 7* hotel, although there was a slight problem with insects. The food provided in the canteen was excellent, and was very pleased that it was solely catered for vegetrarians. We were provided fresh juice everyday. I would defiately recommend anyone to take their friends/relatives for treatments to the Asian Heart Foundation."

Pros: excellent quality of care, very good facilities, excellent level of communication at all levels
"We took my father in law to Asian Heart Institute in Mumbai for Cardiac Surgery in June 2006. The whole process was organised by Dr PD Shah and his wife and everything went very smoothly. It was our first experience but weren't worried at all due to the quality of care and communication provided. The hospital facilities were fantastic and the care my father in law received was exceptional. Whilst we were there, we were looked after very well by everyone and they took care of all our needs. He is much better now and Dr PD Shah and his wife keep in regular contact to check on his health. I'd definitely recommend this healthcare service to anyone"

Illness or condition:
osteoarthrits of both hips
Operation or treatment:
bihip resurfacing
indian sojournDate: 24 January 2009
"In 1993 I developed advanced osteoarthrits of both my hips. Unusual at the age of 51, I am a waiter and had no insurance or $100,000 for a double replacement, I had no opions with the American medical system. Here is the greatest nation the world has ever seen and half of the population does not have accessable healthcare. My employer had seen a report on 60 minutes about hip replacement surgery in India, which I thought inane. If it cannot be gotten here, in the land of the free and the home of thr brave, how so overseas? One night in despair, I came home and puched in "hip replacements in India". I got a bunch of websites, communicated with eight and went with the one I felt the most comfortable with, The Medical Tourist Co. and Dr Prem Shah. I did my research well, and handled my travel itinerary myself. I had to travel solo, which I do not recomend, however I had no option. They met me in Mumbai, escorted me to Haranandani Hospital, which is clean, spacious and wonderful. The staff was great, always there, and friendly. The operation was painful, but what did I expect, other than they took great care of me, lead me through the whole ordeal. The hospital and it's people were superb. To this day, I would much rather be there than any American hospital, the care was so much better. My life is not perfect, but I can do so many things I could not do prior to the procedure. The pain is gone, I can exercise again and the quality is so much better. All at a fraction of the bloated medical costs in the good old U.S.A."

"Our experience with the Medical Tourist company was overall excellent, they cared for my mother before during and after her knee surgey. She acknowledges the professionalism showed by her Doctors and Nurses, they treated her like their own mother. I must add that Dr P. Shah did an excellent job with communication and keeping me and the rest of the family updated and reassured knowing we were not all in India with her. Even after the surgery, Dr Shah is still easy to reach and ready to address questions."

"I was treated like a relative or old friend who needed help by Dr. Shah at The Medical Tourist Co. He still checks on me from time to time via telephone. He does'nt have to do this but is a genuine caring person who is concerned about my health. I tell him i am doing fine . It has been a couple of years since my surgery that he arranged at Hirandani Hospital in Mumbai India. I was treated very well by everyone there and would go back if I needed more treatment."

Ablation procedure in MumbaiDate: 09 January 2009
Pros: real value for money
"I needed an ablation procedure for AF and at the time there was a wait on the NHS of at least 1 year, or I could go private at considerable cost. I found Dr Shah via the internet and having explained my condition he recommended that I went to the Asian Heart Institute in Mumbai. I could fill pages on this site trying to convey the experience, but sufficient to say for the moment that the service and facilities were unbeatable. Dr Shah in the UK and all of the team in Mumbai were fantastic. If anyone wants to know about my experience please contact Dr Shah who will pass on my contact details. Oh yes..The total cost was about 25% of the minimum UK cost for private care."

"The surgery would have been free at home in the UK, but with unacceptable risks from hospital diseases and poor post-operation care. So I researched online, and selected The Medical Tourist Co. I had selected well! The medical care and the hospital were flawless; I could not think of a single improvement to suggest. The admin, communications, and general support provided by the Company were first class. My new knee is now over 3 years old and gives no trouble or discomfort."

"I needed major surgery and I did not have insurance, so I looked for alternatives that were affordable. I found this service and I must say that they go above and well beyond my expectations. The hospital was impeccable, and when I felt horribly scared (major surgery is scary) they comforted me and made me feel at home. They even let my brother stay in my room with me which made me feel much better. The hospital was the cleanest I had ever seen, and Dr. Shah called me regularly to make sure I was okay. The surgery was about two years ago, and I am doing very well. I would definitely use this service again."
