My life has been a series of problems with my teeth following poor personal care during childhood. As an adult, gum disease caused
problems and many teeth were loose. A bridge failed and my local dentist glibly recommended implants at £2000 each and assured me that
he was up to fitting them... I am afraid I had little faith in him. I read about dental treatment in Hungary in a newspaper and visited
another clinic in Budapest. They gave me a proposal but the dentist was patronising and rather blunt - I didn't need reminding that my
teeth were in a bad state and personal manner is important to me. A friend had used Vital Europe for extensive treatment with good
results so I visited their London clinic for a consultation. The proposal was similar to that offered by the other clinic which was
reassuring. Both clinics had reported serious root infection that my home dentist had not spotted. I was impressed with the manner,
experience and professionalism of the dentist, Dr Dudas, and decided to start treatment with Vital Europe in May. Picked up at the
airport by a taxi (included if a stay in their apartments is chosen) I was taken to a very comfortable apartment where I was met by
Arpi, a very helpful guy who looked after the domestics and tourism aspects of the stay. The apartment, set in a quiet and pleasant part
of the city, is a two minute walk from the clinic and close to public transport into the city centre. The clinic is modern and the scale
of the organisation is impressive with comfortable waiting areas with free refreshments etc. The reception staff were most helpful and I
noticed that the patients were from a range of countries including USA and Norway. After a further X-ray the dentist consulted with the
surgeon and they suggested an alternative plan as they felt that some of the lower teeth that were to remain and be crowned were too
loose to last for more than a few years. They were keen to provide a more lasting solution. This impressed me although it meant having a
larger number of teeth extracted than originally planned which, while painless in the hands of an extremely well-qualified surgeon,
still made me somewhat nervous. After the extractions I was given antibiotics and pain killers and was able to return to the apartment.
It was useful to be able to buy and prepare my own (soft) food after such drastic treatment so 10/10 for the apartment. The wounds soon
healed and I spent the rest of the week enjoying lovely Budapest with occasional visits for taking impressions for temporary dentures.
At the end of the week these had been prepared by the technical team and I left Budapest with dentures and a smile - most people at hone
thought that my treatment had finished! In August I returned to Budapest for two days to have root canal treatment and four implants
inserted by the surgeon and then I had to wait for 20 weeks for the implants to really settle. It was useful to be able to go to the
London clinic to have the stitches removed and have check ups by the same dentist and surgeon who treated me in Budapest. Later in the
year I had the implants exposed in London by the surgeon ready for the final stage in February. This involved two sunny weeks in
Budapest with plenty of time for my wife and I to enjoy the city. At the end of the stay I left with new bridgework and a lower denture
locked onto the implant system. I am able to bite and chew food again with more teeth than I have been used to and I am not afraid to
smile. I feel that I have turned over a new page in my dental life and I am determined to ensure that I will not have incur further
infections or problems with my current dentition. The customer care and coordination at all stages was impressive (thank you Dora!) and
staff at both London and Budapest clinics could not have been more helpful. The scale of the modern clinic was unlike anything I have
seen in the UK and the dentists and surgeons are well-qualified and professional and, importantly, do large scale dental restoration
work on a regular basis. This is what they do - all the time! My "local" dentist is now Vital Europe in London where I will return for
an annual check-up - I am retired so it just involves a day-out in London using cheap rail tickets! I have no intention of trusting
anyone else with my teeth. Having major dental work done abroad is a big decision to make. It is more about trust and confidence than
just saving money (which even including transport and accommodation, it certainly does do). I hope this review will encourage people to
take the step with Vital Europe as, at every stage, I was able to put my full trust in their professional and caring approach. During my
last visit my wife had a free consultation there and she is now planning to undergo restorative treatment with Vital Europe, so there is
a measure of our confidence! On a selfish basis it will be good to re-visit the apartment and enjoy Budapest's thermal baths once more!
