Three months ago I had Rhinoplasty conducted at Bumrungrad International Hospital by Dr Nond.
After shooting emails back and forth for
a few months I arrived in BKK. I had my consultation the following day where I was asked what results I wanted and had photos taken. I
recommend that patients have their expectations very clear, play with photoshop and bring a copy of what you want.
Following the
consult I paid the 140,000 baht and had a blood test as requested (cost an additional amount)
I was booked for surgery the following
day.
Arrived in my room at 3pm, taken to my private room, very nice and spacious with private bathroom, kitchen (not sure who would
ever use it) and lots of modern facilities like LCD tv with movies on request, electric blinds and lights.
5pm my doctor visited me for
a quick chat.
6pm I was taken my trolley from my room to the surgery level.
I waited for an hour on bed in a waiting room then taken
to the OR.
For the few minutes I was conscious I saw that the OR was very clean, equipment looked new and my photos were displayed on a
LCD TV.
I woke up at midnight, not in too much pain, just a little uncomfortable. Had dinner waiting for me but was not hungry. As a
result of the morphine I drifted in and out of sleep for the next ten hours, having ice packs replaced every hour along with a blood
pressure check.
I showered at 10am, was the first time I saw myself in the mirror, I didn't recognize myself, eyes very puffy and it
looked like someone had drawn around my eyes with purple texta but was bruising.
My morphine drip was removed at 4pm where I also
changed back into my own clothes. The nurses who spoke excellent English said that my dr would visit at 7pm.
7pm came but no doctor,
the nurses asked if I still wanted him to come, I said yes and waited a further hour. He did a quick check and we booked a follow up, he
cleaned the dry blood from my nose and instructed me on aftercare. I was then told I would have to wait another hour to get my pills,
pain killers and antibiotics.
9pm I was out, was difficult getting a taxi to the hotel, was told the traffic was too busy. Think the
hospital should have a taxi service like many hotels have.
I stayed in my hotel for two days before venturing outdoors. Then moved to
light makeup to cover my back eyes.
Four days after surgery I removed the split, nose was still swallow but didn't look freakish.
7
days after surgery I went for my consult, stitches on the skin between my nostrils removed. I expressed my concerns about a hump that
was still present on my nose, he advise me it was cartilage that may reduce but it may not.
I left BKK two weeks after surgery, still
a little swollen but the bruising had gone. I was nervous about the flight and having problems with my sinuses but had no issues.
I
took a further week off at work, am a flight attendant and didn't want sinuses issues so was cautious but think if I worked in a office
I would had returned back to work earlier.
Most people at work didn't notice a difference, looked at before photos and saw the
differences but was dramatic. I will a little unhappy that I still had a hump but told my self it still needed to heal futher.
Two
months after my I started getting the feeling back to my nose but still slightly numb.
Now it's been 3 months, I would say it is an
improvement but still unhappy about the hump, I think now it will be permeant, but everywhere says it takes 12 months to fully heal...
Who nose???? Knows? Lol
Final comments, Bumrungrad is first class, western standard if not better. Clean and professional, it's one of
the best in Thailand and is pretty much focused on tourism as it is too expensive for many Thais. No hesitation going back. Only
recommendation for anyone getting a nose job whether it be at your home place or anywhere else, make sure you and your doctor understand
what you want out of your surgery before you get it done, it will avoid disappointment.
