I arrived at Wroclaw airport on time with Ryanair, it took about 15 mins for the taxi driver Chris to show
up, I did have his number stored in my phone anyway just in case and I was getting a bit worried, I walked down the length of the
airport and then stood around but eventually noticed he had arrived. Chris was standing there with a card with my name on it and another
person's name, we introduced etc and he told me we were waiting for another person, once they also arrived, we left the airport and
Chris went to collect his taxi. We were taken straight to our accomodation(the other two were staying in the Solo Plus) I was in the
clinic apartments.
Apartments
I was taken straight to the apartments, the taxi driver showed us generally where the shopping
centre and shops/restaurants were and pointed out the clinic. He did offered to collect the couple from their hotel and me the next
morning(to arrive for 9am) but it was only a 5 or 10 minute walk so I told him I'd be fine. Upon arrival, I found out that there's a
girl called Karolina who lives in the apartments all the time in one of the rooms permanently. Barbra has left as she is now married and
Polish people often share apartments with friends as rent is very expensive so to Karolina this is not strange but at first I did find
it weird. At first, I found it awkward even though she's nice. She wasn't there when I arrived so it was her friend possibly boyfriend(
I think ) they said they were single but he was round quite a lot and stayed over some nights but he was a nice guy and spoke really
good English which was handy but anyways he had to show me around so I don't think I got the full tour even though his english was
better than hers. But it's just like a normal apartment so it was easy enough to figure out. Each room has their own shelf in the
fridge, there's a cupboard with tea, coffee, sugar salt etc that patients can use. Basically, anything you're not suppose to touch is
marked private. There's a towel on your bed(under the sheet), you only get one towel unless you specifically ask for another one but
there's house rules on the front door which say you won't get a clean one everyday, only if you ask kind of thing but at the end of the
day she's more like a room mate than a maid but the beds are comfortable, I had a fan and a night stand with a light. There's a code to
get into the door downstairs of the apartment building, ask Karolina to give it to you and make sure you write it down. You're given a
set of keys - a large silver one opens the top lock and a small brass one opens the bottom lock of the front door, the silver key with
the red splodge on it is for your bedroom. There are also house rules on the door which give instructions on how to get wifi as you need
to put in a password, no smoking, tidy up your own mess etc etc things you'd normally expect. My room had a sink and 2 twin beds,
another room had 3 beds but no facilities and the last room had one bed but it's own bathroom too.
Guests
The first night
everyone stayed in their own room and I'm shy anyway so felt really awkward but turns out they were all lovely and I've kept in touch :)
most people do keep their doors closed though and you'll chat if you're in the common areas together so you do get your own
privacy.
Clinic and initial consulatation - 26th June 2012
The clinic is in a business building with other companies, it's mainly
banks but the clinic is called the NOA clinic over there and it is on the second floor and you turn left when you exit the elevator and
it's a few doors along. There's a reception at the front anyway on the bottom floor so ask if you're unsure. The clinic is spotless
though. You go down to the clinic for 09:00am and have your initial consultation on a first come first served basis. The patients who
have already had surgery are given appointments at 08:30 seen first and they go in for their check up first but obviously this can run
past 09:00. I found the consultation very quick and basic but what I wanted was pretty straight forward and Adam knew just by looking at
my nose what need to be corrected and when I told him I wanted a natural look breast augmentation, he said he knew the size of implants
he would use after he measured me, said he'd go under the muscle and give me about 300cc. I wasn't shown any implants at my consultation
but he did say that there would be a second consultation before my op. Once you have your consultation, you pay your fee at reception. I
had paid days before with a bank transfer. I was told a general time of my op(just the afternoon) and I think the least complex
operations are performed first - I ended up going in at 14:30 as I was having two ops. You can leave and come back after your
consultation if you know it's going to be later on as once you check into your waiting room, you can't leave. There's a cupboard at
reception you can leave your case etc when you go out BUT if it's a hot day, they might not let you leave as you may become dehydrated
and they want to put you on a drip but as it was quite cold the day of my op, Adam said I could take small sips of water and go out - I
was only gone an hour or so and the shopping centre is right next to the clinic.
Waiting room
So once you're ready, you are
taken to your room, they make you wear blue covers on your shoes as soon as you leave the reception. I was asked if I minded sharing a
room with someone else and I said I didn't mind. There's a blue cover on your bed which is removed and you're told not to sit any of
your posseions or yourself on the bed. You take off all your jewellery, make up, false teeth, contacts and you are given a not very
modest gown, slippers and a towel and have to go for a shower which is in another room(when you're ready). Like I said, I was only told
that my op would be in the afternoon but when the anaesthetist came to see my room mate at about half 11, she said she would be back to
see me in 2 hours. So make sure you bring a book or something, there's no wifi in the clinic and you could be waiting a while. Also make
sure you have appropriate hair removal (haha) beforehand if you're having anything done to your body because when Adam comes to drawn on
you, the gown is just removed so everything is on display :) you can also bring snacks as there's bedside cabinets you can store them
but obviously you can't eat before hand if it's a general anaesthetic.
The second consultation
Adam came in about 14:00 to mark me
up and take some pictures, he noticed that I stood a little squint so advised he'd need to take this into account and place one implant
higher, he also advised that he would be unable to make my nose 100% symmetrical as the muscles on one side of my face were stronger. I
was very at ease and relaxed with him and felt he knew exactly what he was talking about. Unfortunately, during this consultation my
room mate was brought back into the room and she was crying and upset(just a side effect of hers from the anaesthetic which she
apologised for later lol) but this made me panic and cry and I got really nervous, Adam and the nurses attended to her and he then told
me he'd be ready for me in 20 minutes. I saw the anaesthesiologist who went over my form again to ensure all the information was
correct. At 14:30, the nurses came to collect me and I walked to the theatre. I took off my gown and lay on bed, they put the canula in
my hand which I'm not gonna lie was agony! It's been almost 2 weeks and I'm still bruised and sore from that.
After Surgery
I
obviously went under and was being woken up in my room, I moved myself over to my bed with the help of the nurses obviously and I think
me and my room mate attempted to talk but honestly that first night's blur. I felt sick and vomited black stuff and fresh blood(sorry
to be so graphic) and the nurse said it was common for rhinoplasty patients as I'd been swallowing blood during surgery. I'd come out of
surgery at 18:00 slept and the nurses kept coming in to give me pain medication through my drip. My nose did not hurt at all it was just
uncomfortable as I kept snoring and waking myself up, my breasts stung and it did really hurt but when they came in to change the
dressing and I had to sit up it was agony as I'd gone under the muscle, my ribs were a bit bruised too. The nurses had moved my room
mates food that she'd brought, you must not be allowed to eat for a certain amount of time after surgery either. I slept a lot and was
given some food later at night, 2 sandwiches with ham and cheese and a cup of tea and a sleeping pill.
The next day - 27 June 2012
I was brought breakfast quite early about 07:00 I think?? Again, 2 sandwiches cheese and ham, yoghurt and cup of tea. Adam came in
to see me and made sure I was ok, told me everything went well and I was to come back th next day at 08:30 for a check up. I was given
pain killers to take away with me and I waited for my taxi to take me back to the apartment.
Recovery
I got very emotional for a
few days after surgery, angry, happy, cried I was a bit of a wreck lol slept a lot up until the 30th I think, went to see Adam every
second day I was there but he said I could come everyday if I had wanted/need to.
I honestly haven't felt any pain in my nose but
it's really irritating not being able to breathe.
I found a BA quite painful, I felt fine in Poland, went to the shopping centre,
out for dinner etc but I found the week I've been home, I've been very tired and having shooting pains up my right breast but that only
lasted a day or two - according to google this is the nerves knitting back together.
It's now almost two weeks post op and my nose
is great, still swelling on the tip but no problems what so ever.
I'm finding over the past day or two, I've been having a bit of
discomfort with my right breast, I feel like it's hard to breathe so I'm going to wait to see if it stops by the end of the week but
again according to google, it's common for under the muscles implants.
Poland
I loved Poland, I thought Wroclow was a lovely
place and would definately return. The weather when I was there was varied, I brought mostly leggings and vest tops but some days I
found it to be quite hot even with that. I would say £300 would be more than enough for one person for one week but there's ATM
machines all around that translate your money into £ so you know how much you are withdrawing, there's a £2 charge for each withdrawl.
There's a great little nail bar where alot of the women go in the shopping centre, the woman there speaks fluent english and alot of the
female clients including myself went there to have their nails done. There's loads of places to eat in the shopping centre(which is open
till 21:00pm) like KFC, Pizza hut, Burger King, Mcdonalds then there's Sushi restarants....I went to an American Grill which is left
when you enter the shopping centre instead of right, was very similiar to TGI Fridays or Hard Rock cafe.
My "tips"
Take
laxatives and your own pain relief, I know it's gross but the amount of pain killers your on causes it and not even a pharmacist could
understand what I wanted to buy :'( plus as the lanaguage is so different, it was hard to determine if I was buying the right thing so I
had to wait till I got home and 2 days post op I was given 4 x paracetomol so I had to go buy more(but I know other people were given
different types) but be prepared to buy your own which is totally fine I think as they obviously don't want you being dependant on pain
relief.
Conclusion
I honestly feel that it was the best decision I ever made, Adam is a fantastic surgeon and I am over the moon
with the results, If I wanted any further treatments, I would not go anywhere else. The level of care is outstanding and it puts the NHS
to shame - I can't comment on private treatments in the UK but I think the NOA clinic is fantastic.
