would solve my confidence issues that I hardly did any research and to cut a very long story short, ended up being very poorly advised,
misinformed and with implants far too big for my frame. I stayed this big for many years because money to have a correction was always a
huge issue for me. I saved for a long time and by the time I had saved about half I needed for the operation in the UK, I developed a
capsular contracture. I needed to find someone who could perform the treatment at less than the UK price but this time I made sure I did
my research properly. I spent hours and hours, researching surgeons and reading reviews. time and time again, I kept coming reading
great reviews for Dr Oelbrandt at the Singleberg Clinic in Brussels. I tried to find some bad reviews for him but couldn't find any and
all the reviews pointed him out not only to be a fantastic surgeon but also approachable, friendly and straight talking. I certainly
wanted someone to be straight talking and honest. I really wanted to know what was achievable and I also needed to know a price upfront.
I booked in to see him in London for my consultation, there were many weekends to choose from and I was absolutely delighted to know it
was him I was going to meet and have my consultation with and not a representative like the first operation I had. I was warmly greeted
by Tahira at my consultation and made to feel at ease by her warm and friendly chatter. I was also seen very promptly by Dr. Oelbrandt.
He was indeed very friendly and I didn't feel a little bit nervous at all. What I most liked about him, is that he was straight to the
point. This was not a sales pitch but an information session, put to me so that I could make and informed decision. He did not assume
that my mind was made up, in fact he encouraged me to take some time to consider all that he had said and to see if it was right for me.
He showed me before and after photos and tried to show me as accurately as possible what I could hope to achieve. Up until this point I
had not made up my mind whether I was going to have new implants put in or have them taken out altogether and Dr. Oelbrandt was very
patient in telling me the pros and cons of both. I also liked the fact that he gave me in writing, the break down of all the costs
involved for both.
I was amazed at the price, which to me was just the icing on the cake. I think I had made my mind up that he was
the right surgeon for me, before I left the consultation but taking his advice on board, I took a few days to consider it. He even said
I could have another free consultation if I wanted but I didn't need it. Throughout the next few weeks, all the information I needed for
travelling to Belgium, transport, hotels, all about the clinic, what I needed, the extra money I might need for taxis etc was emailed to
me. Once I had paid for my operation, I was also given mobile numbers for my surgeon and the clinic.
I liked the thought that no
matter what happened, I would be able to call someone on my travels. The Eurostar journey was very easy and the clinic itself was easy
to find. Having said that, it is also easy to find using a mobile phone Sat Nav so data roaming is a good idea.
The clinic was very
clean and in a lovely square in Beveren and I had another consultation with Dr Oelbrandt the evening before my surgery which I found
very helpful to calm my nerves. I stayed at the hotel Beveren which is about 3 miles away so factor in the cost of taxis. if you are on
your own, as I was, it is worth asking the doctor if there is anyone else on their own and willing to taxi share. I was lucky and met up
with another lady staying in my hotel. I now have a friend which is a bonus!
On the morning of the surgery I went to the clinic in a
very quiet and contemplative mood. Thank goodness for Dr Oelbrandts wonderful team, his surgical assistant and anaesthetist had me
laughing so much, it really put me at ease and before I knew it, I was waking up after my op in a private room. I have to say that I had
decided to have my implants taken out for good and to have a breast uplift and capsular contracture removal done at the same time. I was
worried that I would end up being flat chested which would have been a shock to me after being so large and not to mention it would have
been very obvious to my friends who I hadn't told.
Immediately after surgery, I cannot tell you the relief and almost euphoria I
felt at no longer having breasts that felt alien to me. It took a while for the grogginess to go but I was soon up and about and ready
to go back to the hotel, which is fantastic by the way, to rest. I had very little pain and hardly took any painkillers but I am told
this is the nature of this operation, much less painful than an implant. I was also told everyone is different though so perhaps I was
just lucky. I was definitely ready to go home 2 days later, after one more consultation with Dr Oelbrandt and felt more than well enough
to travel back.
Once home I felt a bit nervous about changing my dressing s but again, was given all the information I needed. When I
first saw my breasts I had to take a bit of a deep breath. I had been warned it wouldn't be pretty but I looked like Frankensteins
monster. My breasts were swollen, bruised and the scarring/stitches looked awful. My nipples looked like salami and I thought, "what
have I done?" I went into panic mode and sent photos to the doctor along the lines of, "is this normal?" He was so patient and let me
know it was perfectly normal and that it would all settle in time. I stated rubbing Bio oil into my scars about 2 weeks later and have
done it every day since. My breasts now are absolutely perfect both for my body size and in shape. I have healed so quickly and I still
have a decent cup size. I cannot begin to tell you how over the moon I am. It has changed me as a person and I am now the confident
person, I should have been all through my twenties and thirties. I cannot thank Dr Oelbrandt and his team enough, an amazing experience
and an amazingly skilled surgeon. THANK YOU!!!!
